Green shows

Before the plays, performers provide entertainment on The Green—the lawn area in front of the Hellems building on campus. (Access map via the menu at the left). Picnickers may also enjoy appearances by Will Shakespeare himself (actor Chuck Wilcox).

Aulande Copley Woods (and various guests)

Alaunde devotes much of her time to new music as an interpreter, improviser and composer. She has performed pieces written for her and her own compositions at new music concerts throughout the country, including Music under Construction, International House Parlor Concerts and the Pendulum New Music Series, and has performed improvised music with pianist Art Lande and flutist Robert Dick. Alaunde has delighted audiences throughout the US and in Germany, France, and Russia, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and The Kennedy Center. She has collaborated with such masters as Carol Wincenc, Ransom Wilson, and Misha Dichter.

Bogblossom

An eclectic ensemble performing a wide range of musical styles, including dance music of the Renaissance and traditional music of Ireland and Eastern Europe, as well as original compositions.

Boulder Renaissance Consort

Specializing in music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the Boulder Renaissance Consort, Boulder's longest-established early music group, celebrates its 28th anniversary this year.  The BRC has entertained festival audiences on-stage and at Green Shows since 1982.

Falstaff Quartet

The Falstaff Quartet plays lively arrangements of classical pieces featuring flute (Cathleen Sease), clarinet (Jeff Falk), oboe (Dawn Upton) and bassoon (Laurel Kallenbach). The group has been performing for CSF Green Shows for 20 years.

Flagstaff Brass

The quintet formed in 1985 and has performed at CSF since 1988. Members are Leonard Fahrni and Rich Gabriel (trumpets); Cheryl Andrews (French horn); Mike Obert (trombone); and John Hyde (tuba).

James, John and Trudy

Recorder trio James Grush, John Goehegan and Trudy Wayne will be playing music by English composers who were contemporaries of Shakespeare himself.

Quartet Program West

The Quartet Program, in it's 39th year, and in collaboration with the University of Colorado School of Music, is an intensive, three-week, summer chamber music program which brings together some of the most highly gifted students from around the world and molds them into nine quartets. Most American professional chamber music groups and orchestras today boast one or more QP alumnus. During the program, students perform both solo and quartet repertoire in venues throughout the community as well as in formal concerts July 23-26 at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM in Grusin Hall at the University of Colorado School of Music. The Renaissance Project

The Renaissance Project, led by Arthur Hampton Bragg, is a Boulder-based choir that focuses on Renaissance motets, madrigals, and sacred works.

Sally Sandoe

Sally Sandoe has played the folk harp for nearly twenty years and considers it the first instrument on which she could make truly beautiful music - mostly Celtic folk songs - without intense study and practice.  For seven years she was part of a team that built and sold nearly 500 "Woodsong" harps at Renaissance Festivals.

Spelemannslag

The Boulder Spelemannslag, affectionately known as Scando, is a Scandinavian music ensemble that has been in existence for over 20 years.  It is comprised of dedicated young adults and children who perform in traditional costumes.

Steve Winograd

Steve Winograd sings and plays Medieval and Renaissance music on recorders and other early woodwind instruments, specializing in dance music and music of Shakespeare's time.  He is a virtuoso performer on the "pipe and tabor", simultaneously playing a 3-holed wooden pipe with the left hand and a small drum with the right hand.

Trillium

This Denver-based group explores early music and folk music of different cultures. They perform on a variety of ancient and modern instruments with emphasis on integration of the two. Rebecca Beshore, Ruth Chaikin and Ben Williams.

A seven voice a cappella group, specializing in Renaissance music and singing in period costume.
